The aim of our curriculum is to get students working in teams, developing their critical thinking skills and learn about the environment in which they live. It is also aimed that this curriculum encompasses all aspects of a child’s learning, providing them with crucial skills for development. 
 

The Curriculum

Forest School
Science
Humanities

Humanities involves three subjects: History, Geography and Religious Education. These subjects will all be interlinked and will involve project-based learning.  

Farming is taught to widen their knowledge of where food comes from. Sustainability and responsibility will be included. This covers: growing their own crops, and exposure to the life cycle of animals will also be discussed.

Farming

Maths looks at teaching children: addition, subtraction, division and multiplication. As well as, symmetry, shapes, measurements and how to read graphs.

Maths

This involves children helping out the local community in several different ways. Children learn key concepts involving: stewardship, compassion and responsibility. 

Community based Learning

Encouraging active involvement in multiple areas. These do not have to be performance based roles. Learners will utilise texts and create their own pieces. 

Drama

All lessons encompass this. Children will be able to come up with their own ideas of how to complete their set tasks. This involves: children being given big questions to answer and then present back. 

Student-based Learning

Children will use their: gross and motor muscles. It will encourage children to develop their teamwork skills and critical thinking skills. Nutrition and well-being will also play a part in P.E.

Physical Education

Here, children will relearning Chinese. The worlds most commonly used language. After school clubs for French and Spanish, will also be used. 

Languages

Food Technology involves, teaching children how to cook and eat healthily. Children will learn where good comes from and why some foods are good/bad for you.

Food Technology

Children will learn about how to function safely online outside of school. They will read newspapers and magazines. They will learn about differing perspectives.

Media
Art

Science involves: learning about living/non-living things, forces and energy sources, As well as the human anatomy.

Art is about allowing the children to express themselves through: drawing, painting, sculpture making and using a range of different materials. As well as, learning the purpose of these.

Forest Schools involves, the: cycle of planning, observations and adaption. Children have the opportunity to learn about the natural environment. 

English

In English, students will lean about different formats for writing. They will practice reading/phonics and learn about public speaking.
