BSDT SCHOOL POLICIES

Here are BSDT, we have a range of policies. Some are listed below. However, for all of the school policies, please click and download the PDF file attached at the bottom of the page.

Admissions Policy:

Within our school, we have a first come, first-serve admissions policy. We do not have any set criteria, meaning students do not have to: live in a particular radius from the school, have a particular faith, have siblings joining the school or complete any type of entrance exam for the school. The school, will be prepared to meet the needs of all children; this including: children from diverse backgrounds and children with Special Educational Needs. We will also have a transport bus, for children who live further than a 3-mile radius from the school, to ensure children from farther away areas are able to attend if they wish.

Behaviour Policy:

We expect children to behave in a respectful way, following the school care values at all times. We believe that good behaviour is the key to good education and key to our children becoming good citizens. The school environment plays a very important part of role for a child’s social and emotional development. At our school we aim to encompass this, by making sure children are made independent and have positive role models around them.

To encourage good behaviour, we make it clear from the start, what we expect. Within lessons children are encouraged to talk to one another and use their critical thinking to learn how to communicate with one another. We aim to keep the learning environment a calm and safe place; to ensure child feel safe and motivated to learn. To manage behaviour, we adopt a positive behaviour management scheme. Whereby we use positive encouragement and praise and every opportunity. Within the school classroom, we will have an awards board, where children can either move up and get rewards, for example: earlier lunch break or they can move down the board where they will have to stay inside at break for 5 minutes.

We teach the students, what it is like to be active role models within society. We also install several care values within the school, to teach the children: respect, compassion, responsibility, equality and critical thinking. If students are upset or have any problems, we try and get them to talk to one another in a respectful manner.

Bullying Policy:

We have a zero-tolerance policy towards bulling. Within our school we aim for our children to be respectful, caring and understanding young people, who treat everyone fairly. However, if bullying does occur, we take it very seriously. Any form of bulling is unacceptable and will result in several procedures, including: parents-teacher meetings and students will be punished accordingly. The school also has an open door policy when it comes to reporting bullying and children are encouraged to immediately speak to any member of staff if they feel they are being bullied.

To prevent bullying from occurring within our school, we will: regularly talk to the children about the differences within people and society; this is to make them aware of cultural and personal differences. We will also have regular speakers come in to the school to discuss bullying to increase children’s knowledge and ensure they are receiving professional information. As a school we are fully aware that children use social media, the internet and electrical appliances to communicate with one another. This increases the likelihood of children being cyber-bullied. To help to prevent this we will also, give children e-safety lessons, to teach them how to keep safe on the internet and to speak to them about the benefits and the dangers of using this technology, to make them aware of the risks.
