Firefighters Visit BSDT!
The local Fire Service came and visited our children today! Linked to our Fire Awareness theme, in this weeks Student-Led Learning...
Children will be allowed to have a choice, in how they would like their work to be assessed at the end of every year.
There will be: creative writing tasks, exam options and presentation choices. So children can choose to present their work in different formats; in which they are the most confident, in expressing their ability.
All of the options for the assessment, are equal to one another, so choice a particular format will not impact their grade.
At BSDT, we have our own school qualifications.
This is a national recognised certificate and children work towards it throughout the year.
This award concentrates on the children's progress from around the year. It includes: participation, team work, respect, how the children implement values on a daily basis, how well they complete student-led activities and how well they interact with the community.
Children will have participation reports sent home. These will be, sent home at the end of every term, so parents will be able to, see how well their child is participating all aspects of school life, including: how well they are answering questions, engaging in activities, communication with other members of the class and how hard they try.
As a school, we do not follow the National Curriculum, like the rest of the United Kingdom. Although we have chosen this for the school, we do recognise that children will be missing out on completing SATS. Due to this we have a partnership with another local school; whereby students can go to this school and take the exams, if they wish. However it is not compulsory.
